Find Help: Treatment for Alcohol and Other Drugs in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and Surrounding Areas

Abusing alcohol and other drugs can damage people's health, destroy relationships with family and friends, and ruin careers. Do you suspect your drinking is not quite "social" but perhaps has crossed the line and is out of control? Maybe you're too embarrassed to bring it up yourself; or, in the case of a relative or friend, maybe you feel you'd be interfering if you got involved.

So why make the effort? Because you care. You care about yourself and what is happening to you. You care about your friend or relative. Here are some concrete suggestions about getting help for yourself or another, remembering you can't deal with this disease of alcoholism or addiction alone:
  • Learn the facts about alcohol and other drugs.
  • Know the warning signs.
  • Talk to your relative or friend.
  • Track down people who can help.
It takes firmness and persistence to help yourself or persuade another to seek help.

When it comes to problems with alcohol and other drugs, help comes in many forms:

  • Inpatient Treatment: Inpatient treatment is a residential approach to treatment where the client resides in a treatment facility during the course of treatment. Inpatient treatment can be short, medium, or long-term and usually involves intensive counseling as well as other services that support recovery
  • Outpatient Treatment: Outpatient treatment is non-residential, although partial residential programs are also included in this category.
  • Emergency Help: This category includes immediate help, such as emergency services and helplines.
  • Self-Help Groups: Local contact information for Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Al-Anon/Alateen, Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Adult Children Of Alcoholics (ACoA), Nar-Anon, and Step to Freedom (Christian-based).
