SkillQuest (SQ)

The SkillQuest program consists of six curriculum topics developed to provide students with skills to help them become successful, happy and responsible members of their communities. The six curriculum topics are: Bully Busting, Anger Alert, Stressed Out, Transitions, Positive Choices and Cultural Diversity.

Problem Areas Addressed:

  • bullying behaviors
  • angry feelings and aggressive behaviors
  • stress
  • transitional times in a teenager’s life
  • substance use and abuse
  • prejudice and stereotyping

Skills Built:

  • assertive communication skills
  • seeking advice from others
  • anger management
  • stress management
  • healthy coping strategies
  • conflict resolution
  • refusal skills
  • accepting differences in others

Age/Grade Level: Grades 4-8

Setting: Full classroom lessons during the school day or as part of an after-school or summer camp program

Format: Series of four 45-minute classes per curriculum topic

Effectiveness: Documented evidence of increased knowledge level regarding:

  • assertive communication skills
  • anger and stress management
  • healthy coping strategies
