Media Under the Microscope- Teaching Youth to Think Critically

Media literacy is a means for analyzing, evaluating, creating, and accessing various forms of media from printed materials such as magazines and newspapers, to music, film, and electronic media.

Educators will learn to deconstruct and analyze media images so that they can weave media literacy throughout their curriculum. Participants will be able to teach youth active inquiry and critical thinking skills about the messages they receive through various forms of media using low or high tech techniques. Media awareness empowers and affirms youth across curricula as they learn to create and deconstruct media with sound arguments and support for their conclusions.
